Mini Album Class at Scrap-n-Crop

Yesterday afternoon I taught a mini album class to some lovely ladies at Scrap-n-Crop.  I apologise in advance for a very photo heavy post, but I promised I would post pictures of my albums for them!  I quickly finished off Samuel's album this afternoon so I could do all the pics at once.

I had enough patterned paper and embellishments in the kit to make 3 albums, for Aaron & Samuel's albums I used chipboard from my stash and Tim Holtz Baroque die.

 Album 1 - Maddison's Album

This page shows the plastic page with the rub-ons

 Album 2 - Aaron's Album
Front & Back pages

This shows the plastic page on the right
 and then on the left.

Album 3 - Samuel's Album (and yes those rub-ons on the back page are on crooked!   Whoops)  ;-)

The stamp on the orange page stamped perfectly on scrap paper, but not on my album page - I think because there was photos on the other side so it wasn't a perfectly flat surface!  (Lesson learnt).

Thanks again ladies for joining me at SnC.  Hope you all enjoyed making your album and you finish them!  :-)

Thanks for visiting.

School Trip to FRIM

Yesterday I went with Aaron's class on a field trip to FRIM as they are studying rain forests this term.

We have been there before (you can read about it here), but because of a few problems we had, we missed out on all what the guide said.  So was interesting for me to hear a little bit more about it.  We spent some time at the museum.  On the entry wall was a big photo showing the size of the park.

There were displays of stuffed animals - Aaron is really in armadillos at the moment so he was thrilled to see this one!

After we had seen all there was to see in the museum, we headed out to the rain forest.  It is a man made one - started in 1929.

I seemed to be at the back of the group most of the time chasing along the stragglers :-)  So most of my photos were of nature rather than the kids, but that was probably more fun hehee.  Here's some of the things we saw.

Fern fronds
 Moss & lichen
Ferns growing high up in the trees.
Awesome root systems

Insects
Decomposing leaves
Fungi
Thousands of ants very busy at work
BIG spiders
Tiny mushrooms

Kapur tree canopy - this was really beautiful and amazing to watch.  Trees were about 65 meters high.
Very large ants (around the size of my thumb!)
Fern spores

The leaves here reminded me of autumn colours back home.  We don't have an autumn here in Malaysia, so I got a lovely surprise to see the colours here deep in the rain forest :-)

So that was our morning yesterday :-)

By the way - I learnt something this morning!  You know how I have been having trouble getting my pictures the right way up in blogger?  Well I found this very helpful post :-)  I had no idea my pics were all on a picasa web album!

2 Turquoise LO's for Scrappin Studio

Hi again, here's another couple of LO's to share using this months City of Lights and Montmarte kits from Scrappin Studio.  I decided to concentrate on using up the turquoise things in the kits :-)
.
Swimming Lesson LO uses mostly things from the City of Lights kit with the thickers and rectangle label stickers from the Montmarte kit.

Grade One LO everything is from the City of Lights  kit except thickers and yellow washi tape.  I used Tim Holtz's hanging sign die for the date.  (One year makes such a difference!  Here's the LO I did with his kindy photo.)

Added some yellow tape to make the numbers stand out better.

Another job to do ...

I just walked into the boys bedroom and discovered this!!!  Now he's not solely to blame for the mess ... the 3 of them were making huts!
.
So there he is up on top of the toy box playing with some cars wearing one of Aaron's sneakers!  Happy as you please :-)

(It annoys me when I can't rotate these pics!)

Saturday ... one little boy got to check out the Ferrari shop with his Daddy!

That night our Condo put on a Lok Lok night for residents.  (It's food on a stick for my NZ readers hehee)  The truck pulled up, set up it's tiny generator for the lights, put on to boil the water and oil and away everyone went.  You chose the sticks you wanted and then cooked them in either the water or oil.  (We felt a little bit conspicuous because there were only about 3 other 'white' faces there! hahaa)

So now I am off to sort out the toy bins and make some sort of order in there!

Some LO's for Scrappin Studio

Hi - back again with another couple of LO's to share using this months City of Lights and Montmarte kits from Scrappin Studio.

I am enjoying using the tape in the kits this month. I have others in my stash, but haven't used them much. They are easy to create borders around your pics though :-) (I haven't journalled on this LO yet as I am waiting for some details from the school about this field trip.)

Brads are gorgeous and I do like those kraft journal spots.
and the butterfly stickers ... and the stamps hehee
I will confess that I used a LO from Stephanie Howell for inspiration for this LO. If you want to see her page click here and scroll to the bottom and it's her 'Love You More' LO.
.
I loved how it was so simple but so effective. And what a great way to use up those journal spots! I also used some Mr Huey's Sunshine Mist on the edges of the page.

Thanks for visiting. :-) Happy scrapping.
