Just for Aunty ...

Aunty Irene mentioned there hasn't been enough photos of Maddison on my blog recently! heheee So I dedicate this post just for her :-)
.
It's called "An Afternoon in the Life of Maddison" :-)
.
She helped me do some baking today after school ... very important job to watch the beater going around on the cake mixer then lick it clean when it's finished.

hehehe - she's trying to see the mixture on the end of her nose! ;-)
After we made banana bread, we did a double batch of chocolate chip cookies - she helped with the measuring.
Flicking flour around with little fingers wasn't in the recipe but it happened anyway!
Checking if the banana bread had finished cooking through a 'telescope' :-) (finished a roll of baking paper so she was playing with that ... had to take it off her though when she put it up to Samuel's face and said "BOO" really loudly down it!! Little monkey.).
After the baking was all finished we went to the playground for an hour. I have no idea what she was doing here - but she'd been riding her bike around then walked around with her arms crossed and this ferocious look on her face for about five minutes! LOL
But her happy face came back :-)
She did a bit of tree climbing (well attempted too!).
More bike riding.
Some star gazing ...
See sawing.
Drunken sliding hehee
Here she is all nice and clean ready for bed, talking to Samuel and just generally smothering him!
Making sure his dummy is pushed to the back of his throat!
She really does love her little brother :-) She's just a little bit "over gentle". hehee (We're working on that!)
.
Hope you enjoyed the show Aunty.
.
Thanks for visiting.

Recipe Books

Penny has shown hers, so here's mine! :-)

I had a clean out of cookbooks before we left Auckland and put a whole lot in our garage sale that I didn't use and had no intention of using! Others that either didn't sell in the sale and I might use one day have gone into storage. I only bought a few with me to KL :-) Most used over here would be my 2 Alison Holst ones (red & green), Edmonds cookbook and the blue binder which is a collection of recipes I have copied from family, friends or favorites I've tried and liked from magazines etc. I use that a lot too :-)
.
I stick to pretty plain recipes to be honest ... sometimes I find it difficult to find special ingredients at the two local supermarkets and I don't have the patience (or time) to go looking further afield.

Just Busy Enough

No pics today ... we've just been busy enough! :-)

No food messes today which has been nice - just blocks, train track and one of the toy bins spread all over the lounge. I can handle that!

Today's highlights are:
  • Aaron has made Lyndon a birthday card. It's pretty cool. Can't put a picture on here cause Lyndon will see it ... and it's not his birthday yet! :-) Lets just say it involves LOTS of glue ... I used my craft punches and Aaron stuck on the punch outs. Interesting!
  • Aaron spied my black Staz-On ink pad on my craft desk and kept telling me it was Maddison's. I said no it's mine. But he just went on and on and on that it was Maddison's. After about 10 minutes of this I said would you just be quiet please. He gives me this look and said "Maddison hink Mummy on feet!" Ahhhhh now I understand what's he's been raving on about. I used that ink pad to stamp Maddison's feet and hand prints - about 2 months ago! Of course why didn't I pick up on that with the first 'Maddison'!!! :- That kid has a memory like an elephant when it suits him!
  • I made a batch of choc chip cookies this afternoon (had a craving for them and no I am NOT pregnant) so Aaron had to "help" by getting on the step stool and wave his arms around the cake mixer telling me "round and round Mummy, round and round!" (As if I couldn't see it!)
  • Maddison tried to pull herself up on the oven when it was on (oven door was closed) .... yes Lyndon I know you told me she would. Aaron was bending over hands on knees peering through the glass to watch cookies baking and Maddison thought she'd have a closer look. So a fair bit of screaming involved on her part. Think I got her quick enough - laid her on the bench and stuck her hands under the cold tap. She seemed fine after a few minutes of that and a big cuddle.
  • I made a card ... it started out to be a birthday card for Lyndon, but ended up being pink. My how my colours have changed in card making since having a little girl!! No brown on it at all. So ... will use that for a competition that's on a blog somewhere (can't remember just where now) and try again tomorrow :-)
Okay time to sign off. Will try and do some pics tomorrow of the kids. Cheers R

Porridge for Anyone?

Tonight I was talking to Mum on the phone and admittedly it was tea time for the kids, but still did he really have to do this? Why is it that every time I am on the phone the little dear gets something out and makes a HUGE mess? (sigh ...)

Not sure Maddison liked the taste!

After Aaron had finished his tea I asked him to clean it up ... but he was as good as useless. Spent more time rubbing his hands in it than sweeping and what he did manage to sweep into the brush he had fun tipping it back out again!

Kitchen Mischief

All very quiet on the kid front ... when I went to check realised Aaron had shut kitchen door, so opened very quietly and peeked in, then went to get camera!

Aaron had kindly given Maddison the dishbrush while he was spraying the floor with kitchen cleaner and scrubbing it! What a pity they aren't big enough to get up on the bench and do the dishes!
