Halloween Part 2

So ... last night Aaron's school put on a Halloween Party and went all out with the decorations and activities. It was amazing. We walked down and the kids put their costumes on when we arrived as it was so warm! Both Lyndon and I had a stint at manning Aaron's class stand which was the "Witches Toss" game (throwing rings onto witches hats :-) !). So we parked Samuel's pram up beside the lounging skeleton and took turns at watching Aaron and Maddison run round after balloons, tossing the rings and generally getting hot and sweaty!

Here they are having a turn at the witches toss game (excuse my witches nose hanging around my neck!).
Total style!
I wrapped Samuel's pram in spider web and hung a big black spider in the front ... he had a white singlet on and the idea was that he was the "white web spun ball of spider eggs in the spiders nest" hehehee :-) I have no idea how he did, but he slept on and off throughout the evening with very loud music playing (seemed to be a lot of Lady Gaga in the mix!!) ;-)

Having a popcorn break while Lyndon was on duty at the witches toss. He told me he hardly had anyone come and thought he might have been scaring them off hehee
Himself with wig on backwards to try and keep hair out of his eyes! He looks like a groupie from the 70's if you ask me!
The hallways had been decorated for a trick or treat trail around the school and it was so well done. Aaron nearly messed himself when this battery operated ghost wailed out a greeting to him heheeee
Right at the end they got a "tattoo". Maddison had her costume off by then it was just so hot!
There was also a haunted house, which apparently was awesome. But there was a huge queue to get into it and we also had the pram so left it this year. I think the kids would have been scared anyway ... both were telling me that the music was scary! (In amongst the songs playing there were wails and screeches every now and again!).
.
The kids were pretty happy with their candy haul ... they each had a bag and I have put them up VERY high and am rationing the sweets! hahaa such a mean mother :-) Hopefully it will last till Christmas ;-) snigger snigger

LO's, Kids & Halloween Part 1

First up ... managed to get 2 more LO's done yesterday for our holiday album (both of Maddison's birthday). I have no idea where or who's blog I found this from, but I found this sketch blog called Sketch Savvy and I like it :-) A lot of her sketches have 6x4 photos on them which is great for me with this HUGE pile of photos I have already printed.
.
First up "Baby Doll" - I used this sketch. Tipped it on it's side and because I had 4 photos instead of 3 I just trimmed them to make it work for me.

The scallop edge is Bazzil Just the Edge pieces and they were green but where I had stored them the sun had been at them and they were really patchy with fade marks .... so to fix it I got out my fav olive vine glimmer mist and sprayed it :-) No where near as noticeable now.
This "Wings" LO I used this sketch. Just used a couple of my many butterfly punches instead of circles heheee. Haven't done the journalling yet ... will probably print onto cardstock I think rather than hand write. Also used a Darkroom Door stamp that says spread your wings :-)

Do you know how extravagant I felt using all the bling on these butterflies and on the circle bit on the above LO???? Such a crazy feeling - I have lots of bling (in pretty much every colour!) but I felt naughty using so much hehee
Maddison is extremely stoked that I have used so many pearls on the butterfly LO :-) I told her to count them, but she gets to 6 and things go a little haywire after that! ;-) (She can count to 10 no probs when she's singing "once I caught a fish alive" though heheee)
And here's the "liddle fella" giving me a little smile ... he grinned and I grabbed the camera and clicked so unfortunately it's slightly blurry, but I still like it because it's so him :-)

Giving his neck a wee rest ;-)

Enjoying his new book from Grandma :-)
This morning at school Aaron had a Halloween parade with the elementary school and a party in his class afterwards. I walked down to join in :-) Here he is as a dinosaur bird. (I'll find the correct name of the bird and put it in the Halloween Part 2 post tomorrow!)

Showing the back of the costume - when he held his arms out it was like wings. Very cool. (p.s. the little princess behind him ... that's his girlfriend! ;-) hehee)
They had games. The kids were split into 4 groups and there were four activities. Aaron's first one was a marble race. They had a bowl of marbles and they had to carry them on a spoon and put into that little orange pumpkin you can see without spilling any!
Drawing on a balloon (I won't mention how many popped!!)
Aaron drew a few things ... ghosts (which you can see), people and scribbles!) and then asked me to draw a ghost and pacman! hahaa
Shaving foam mess! They spread it about, wrote their name in it, made pointy buildings, and basically got it everywhere!
Twister. Aaron got to spin the needle as there were 4 kids in his group.
After the games they had a lot of orange snacks :-) Carrot sticks, rock melon, twisties, little packets of pumpkin seeds, pumpkin & orange muffins, fairy bread, orange wrapped Halloween chocolate! The juice boxes were carrot and some other fruit :-) And in amongst it all were lots of little spiders! hehee

Sure was lots of fun. Tonight they are having a Trick or Treat Halloween Party at the school so we are all going - costumes and all! ;-) I will blog all about that tomorrow (Part 2). :-)
.
.
Guess what arrived at my place yesterday :-)

My box of fabulous goodies from Darkroom Door for my Guest Artist stint. SO MUCH stuff ... I was giddy I tell you! Looking forward to creating with it and showing you then :-)
.
Here's a few things I bought myself which I can show you now! ;-)

Okay I think I have rambled on long enough. Enjoy your weekend & thanks for visiting.

Mostly about Maddison!

Maddison with her bed hair entertaining Samuel ;-)

Yesterday morning her school phoned me to say she had a high temp could I come. So picked her up and after half an hour at home (her temp was dropping) she took herself off to bed and was asleep 5 minutes later! I had to wake her at 3pm so we could get Aaron off the bus (she'd slept for 4 hours!!!). I've kept her home today, but she's fine and is asking for "sumtheng to eat"!! :-) So she's herself again hehee
.
This sideways things is really ticking me off!!!
.
Anyway I've done 3 more LO's for our holiday album - all of Maddison's birthday last year.

I had a packet of 8x8 Pink Paislee papers that I got in NZ in a special bin somewhere and I hadn't even opened it! (typical) so I thought I see how many I could use on Maddison's birthday LO's! ;-)

Bit of "Dear Lizzy" ribbon in there too. I have journalled on the make a wish LO, just did it after I took the photo! Another bling ladybug! But I have really learnt my lesson ... no more bling until I use up what I have. They are very very hard to get off the plastic backing sheet and then it just sticks to its self when I've had them for ages! Probably took me 20 minutes to stick that silly little blue bug down! (I was so tempted to bin the jolly thing!) Anyway that's why it's a bit mishapped! I'm blaming the fact I've left it too long before using it and the glue has gone yucky.

More LO's to share

Yesterday I managed to get 4 LO's done ... first two only took me 45 minutes (they are pretty basic!). But they tell the story and that's what matters aye. All for our holiday album.
.
I did one of Aaron & Maddison holding new cousin Deakin last year (look here if you want to see it) and decided I would stick to the same patterned papers for the rest of the pics. So YAY for me I have used up all that set of October Afternoon 'Country Fair' collection I had :-)

WHY WHY WHY ... the sideways thing??? This is really really annoying me! Sorry - you'll have to tilt your head again.
Yonks old Basic Grey paper. I so hesitated in using it because I love the paper and thought it wasteful to cover so much of it up. Then I got a firm grip of myself and said "just get on with it"! It's meant to be used right?! ;-)

This Thomas Track LO is everything Tim Holtz :-) Patterned papers, alphas (cut from patterned paper), cogs, spinners, gears, washers, paper clips, tags, filmstrip ribbon, stamp, distress inks, used the tiny attacher even! Only things that didn't have his name on them were glue & the photo :-) When I showed Aaron this LO this morning he said "WOW can we go to Taylor & Mitchell's house now?" Hahaha ... I told him that that track was actually Grandmas train track for special little boys & girls to play with! :-)

Okay ... of to see what else I can scrap today :-)

He's on the move!

Last Friday Samuel rolled by himself for the first time. Since then he's got it sorted and hasn't stopped! He's only rolling one way though at the moment (to his left).

Saturday I went to get him out of bed and discovered him like this!!! Little monkey.

(Excuse the chew marks on the rails ... that's from Maddison hehee)
.
Once he got his "deer in the headlights" look out of the way I got a tiny smile :-)
Last night I decided to forget about wrapping him and start using the safety sleep because he digs his heels in and squashes himself up against the headboard and then yells because he can't turn over!
.
So far it seems to be working, although he has discovered the edge of the velcro wrap bit, so I can see in the not too distant future he will work out how to get out of it! (then I'll use safety pins hehe)
.
Here he is during his morning snooze today :-)
Aaron had that little yellow giraffe and Samuel does the same with it as Aaron did ... chew it's horns and the manufacturers tag! hahaa

Scrapping

Thought I'd share a few LO's I've done in the last couple of days. All for our holiday album.
.
WHY does blogger put pics on the side randomly? So stupid of it. Oh well - tilt your head sorry!
.
I actually found this first LO really hard to do as I had already scrapped these photos before for Mum last year (the first LO in this post) and I think I like her LO better hehehe ;-)

These next two are using up some more Basic Grey Porcelain papers.

Sorry - photographed it crocked so when I cropped it it's wonky! No idea why I went with orange here ... maybe to match the poles outside the airport terminal hehee The paper I journalled on though has orange in it.

Still have a BIG pile of photos to scrap for this album (albums!) ... I am a month and a half in of photos though! Another month and half of photos to go (that doesn't mean I have scrapped half them unfortunately!).

Get Picky Sketch #1

Here's my take for Get Picky's first Sketch Challenge. I've used Basic Grey Porcelain papers that have been in my stash for a while! (Actually the bigger pieces came in a kit from one of the classes I did at Creative Escape last year! Smaller pieces from a 6x6 pad.) Alphas and fabric flower (bloomers) are from Websters. Used distress inks to define the edges of the papers. Decided I didn't need to journal - title and photos say it all! :-)

More holiday photos :-) and that little ladybug ... it's from Basic Grey as well - got that when I was home last year. Perfect for Maddison's ladybug cake :-)
.
Love the sketch ... think I will use it again. Anyone else that reads my blog doing this challenge?

United Nations Concert

Today at Aaron's school the elementary school had a United Nations Assembly and the kids from each country put on a performance :-) We got halfway through the second act and the fire alarm went off! Can you imagine a hall FULL of kids, parents, other little kids and babies exiting! It went really well though and wasn't that long and we were all out, with the kids in lines being head counted! It put the show back at least half an hour though which was a shame.

The Auzzies were making sure their kangaroos were safe hehee
Anyway ... the "Kiwis" (New Zealanders) decided to do a little skit to a 100% Pure New Zealand add (which you can see here.) Aaron was a surfer dude!

There were 8 kids ... most of them under age 7. We had 2 surfers, a tramper, a farmer, a rugby player and 3 little Maori girls.
.
Spot the little farmers gumboots ... cute huh! ;-)

To give you a brief overview ... the 100% Pure NZ add was playing on the big screen and the kids (and some parents acted it out). The blue cloth represents the sea and the mountains being "fished up"
Then the mountains being carved up ...
Aaron and another little boy were surfer dudes and they ran back and forward "surfing" on the stage ... so cute.
Then came the Maori girls, then the tramper, rugby player and farmer :-)
.
And at the end they all held up pieces of a sign to read ...
"New Zealand the youngest country on earth".

It was a great performance actually. I'd like to show you all the kids and the blokes that did the haka, but by the time I'd blur their faces you wouldn't get to see their moko's.
.
