2nd Birthday Party

Yesterday we finally had Samuel's 2nd birthday party :-)  There were only a few of our friends that could come, but an enjoyable afternoon and evening all the same.  Samuel was spoilt and got some neat gifts ...

A little back pack - perfect size for when he starts Montessori in August :-)

A Cookie Monster toy which he holds up to his ear like a phone and dances about while it sings hehee

A view finder.

His own "laptop" :-)

I made him a Barney cake.  Please excuse the terrible photo.  I was just about to cut it after the candles were removed and realised I hadn't taken a picture so quickly snapped this one!

Watching Daddy light the candles.

Not sure how to blow out the candles.
But it was very exciting watching the flames!
 Aaron helped blow them out.
Samuel wondering where the flames had gone hehee
We lit them again so he could blow them out.  He had the noises right and lips were pursed. But I don't think there was much air coming out hehee  He got it in the end though :-)
Enjoying the ice-cream we served with the cake.
And tonight he got another present from some friends that couldn't make it.  A very lucky little boy!  (Meanie Mum though quickly put this present away for our trip back to NZ so he has something to do on the plane!)  ;-)

Fancy him being 2 already!  And soon Maddison will be 5 and Aaron will be 7!  Time surely does fly by doesn't it.

It seems only a few months ago it was Aaron that was turning 2!  haha

Double LO for Scrappin Studio

Hi there, back again with a double LO using Scrappin Studio's May Main 35mm kit and Holga add-on kit.  Everything except for the white cardstock which I used for the base and the journalling is from the kits.  I had fun playing with the hexagons and the patterned paper with the little cameras all over it is neat as well. :-)

Thanks for visiting.  I am off now to decorate Samuel's birthday cake for his party this afternoon :-)

What's been happening ...

I'll start with Samuel!  He's been having lots of fun with all his animals ... we don't go out of the house with at least a "horssse, horssse and ellee (horse, zebra and elephant)!  :-)  Still working on him saying zebra!  haha

We didn't have his birthday party on Saturday as Maddison was sick on Friday night and Samuel was a little bit too, so we decided to be safe and cancel the party (we have rescheduled for the following Saturday).  Turns out there were a few from Maddison's class that were sick over the weekend I found out this morning!  You might recall that we've been to a few Dr's about a rash Samuel has on his arms and sometimes on his stomach and back.  He's had it about a month now, the 1st Dr said it was hand foot and mouth, 2nd said it was measles, 3rd said bacterial skin infection and gave us some steroid cream, which cleared it up within 24 hours ... BUT after 3 days I missed a night and a morning putting the cream on and it came back with a vengeance and I haven't been able to clear it up since.  So back to the Dr's again and this time she said she wasn't sure and referred us to a dermatologist ... and we have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment!  I decided to get yet another opinion since that Dr was the one that said he had measles and last Friday went to a pediatrician, who said he had contact dermatitis.  So now I have to wait another week for our appointment with the dermatologist.  I do hope we can get it cleared up before we go on holiday next month ... it looks awful!  Mind you the shock of the cold weather we will be heading to might freeze it off him hehehee ;-)  Just glad that it doesn't seem to be bothering him as far as being itchy goes.

One day last week Aaron's school had student lead conferences ... so Samuel and I went along to listen to Aaron tell us all about what he had learnt and show us his work folders.

Samuel was great and sat in the pram and played with the teacher's lion and hippo :-)

We've had trips to the dentist.  A LOT different to my days at primary school I can tell you!  I didn't get to wear funky sun glasses - all I seem to remember is a foot controlled pedal drill that made the most terrible noise!

The Dentist was lovely and showed the kids how to brush their teeth.  Mind you it's very easy to practice on a set of teeth that aren't surrounded by cheeks and you can open the jaw back 180 degs heheee

I won't even go into the hideous traffic we've experienced the last week coming home from spelling tuition!  I will just say it was painful ... very very painful!

Lots and lots happening over the next 3 weeks!  The end of the school year is fast coming to a close.  My diary is chock-a-block!  I have some serious amount of baking & cooking to do as well! Maddison has requested a special cake for her school leaving party (she's been accepted into Aaron's school for August, so super excited about that) ... the trouble is she can't make her mind up  exactly what cake she wants!

Right better get off here.  Thanks for visiting - have a great week.

A LO for Scrappin Studio

Hi, a quick post with a LO from Scrappin Studio's May kits, 35mm and Holga.  I've used Antique Linen distress ink (again) :-) to ink the alphas, chipboard button and the edges of the papers.

The journalling is printed onto cream vellum from my stash.  Jute string is also from my stash.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Mothers Day!

My Mothers Day actually started on Friday!  I was invited to a special mothers day afternoon tea at Aaron's class where we had lemonade and heart shaped cookies.

He gave me this lovely letter (so nice to know he loves me more than all the armadillos in the world hehe) which was backed onto a beautiful piece of handmade paper they had made.

And a recycled vase and paper flowers :-)

We picked Maddison up from creche and she came bounding out with her little face covered in chocolate and had this arrangement for me :-)
Chocolate dipped grapes and apple slices and a handmade flower.
This morning the annual mothers day photo was this good LOL  Lyndon got me a box of yummy product from L'Occitane.  :-)
And we had lunch at our usual ... Tony Roma's hehee  (Samuel slept the entire time!)

Today is also Samuel's 2nd birthday :-)  He unwrapped one present this morning before we headed out, but in hindsight not sure it was a good idea!  There was a lot of yelling that he had to leave it in the car!

He opened his other presents in the afternoon.
Zoo and farm animals so he learns the difference between a zebra and a horse hehee
 And a safari tent :-)

He's having a party next Saturday with some of our friends, so we are looking forward to that.

Thanks for visiting.

2 LO's for Scrappin Studio using the May Kits

I got two beautiful kits again this month from Scrappin Studio, they arrived yesterday afternoon and I managed to sneak some time last night to put these two LO's together.

"YEEHA" LO uses the main kit only - "35mm".  I just love this patterned paper, it looks exactly like a paint peeling wall, so realistic.  I clustered some of the embellishments in the kit and then tried out the Heidi Swapp Colour Magic alphas for the title.  I used Antique Linen distress ink on them.

"& Now to Unpack ..." LO uses both the 35mm and the Holga kits.  The Holga kit has an Element Deck from Cosmo Cricket in there which is really cool.  I am looking forward to using some more of them.  I used it here as a journal block.  Again I inked around the edges of most things with Antique Linen distress ink (seems to be my favourite at the moment!)  :-)

The bling (Prima) is a matte finish which was a nice change.

It may look from this last LO that I have finished scrapping our holiday photos from 2009!  I only wish it were true heheee ... sadly it's not!  But I am getting there.  My rough guess is I have another 20 LO's to do!  (Wonder if I will get them done before we have our next trip back to NZ ... I don't think so somehow!)

Thanks for visiting and happy scrapping :-)
