Kids!

Serene, my lovely friend in Singapore, printed some tee-shirts for the kids (you can see the pictures clearer on her blog post about them here). I was all organised this morning, had Samuel dressed in his (it's a little big for him yet) and Lyndon got Aaron and Maddison dressed and when they finished breakfast I was going to take some photos of the 3 of them!

I tried, really I did!

When I went to pick Samuel up from his bouncer I discovered he had been VERY busy ...

hehehe - look at his eyes! They are like organ stops. He's probably thinking "for goodness sake put that camera away and get me out of this poop!" :-)

.

So the photo shoot got put on hold while he had another shower and a change of clothes! His lovely new singlet is now soaking in a bucket of "magic poop remover" and I have my fingers crossed that there won't be any stains!!!

.

Kids! If it's not one of them up to mischief it's another! hehehe

.

So when Samuel was in a clean singlet I got some pics of the three of them :-) (Aaron is still doing his goofy laugh & smile thing whenever he sees the camera pointed at him!)

You can see the shirts a little clearer here - Maddison is standing on tiptoes by the way! Aaron is still a bit taller than her hehee
And here's the little monkey himself! 8 weeks old today :-)

Still working on getting some nice smile pictures. When he's busy smiling and chatting to me, the camera isn't in reach. I need to get prepared!

All About Aaron

Today's post is about Aaron :-) On Monday's he has Taekwondo after school. Every time I ask him to show me some moves or something he's learnt he just shakes his head and runs off. If I ask him to tell me rather than show I just get "oh we played with balls!" Right ...

.

I really wanted to get some photos of him doing his "thing" but knew if I was in the class with the camera it would be a riot and I wouldn't get any photos that would really tell the story. So last week I checked with the Principal if she could ask the Taekwondo teacher if taking photos was okay and if so could I give her my camera to take some pics for me. So that's what happened :-)

.

Aaron just goes all goofy when he sees these hehee But the good thing is that 95% of the photos taken Aaron was smiling and laughing, so when he tells me he doesn't like it I can say I don't believe him hehee

Was very neat to see the pictures ... there were some over all shots of the boys (there's 12 in the class) doing their stuff. Aaron isn't the only pale face hehehee ... there's another little boy with blond hair and a couple with brown :-)

The last few days Aaron has been singing Jingle Bells for some reason! Not sure where that's come from, but his version goes like this:

Lots of fun it is to ride

I told him the words weren't quite right, but he has the tune off beautifully. So we need to practice to get the words correct. He just grinned at me and went of humming it instead! hahaa

Just for Aunty ...

Aunty Irene mentioned there hasn't been enough photos of Maddison on my blog recently! heheee So I dedicate this post just for her :-)

It's called "An Afternoon in the Life of Maddison" :-)

.

She helped me do some baking today after school ... very important job to watch the beater going around on the cake mixer then lick it clean when it's finished.

hehehe - she's trying to see the mixture on the end of her nose! ;-)
After we made banana bread, we did a double batch of chocolate chip cookies - she helped with the measuring.
Flicking flour around with little fingers wasn't in the recipe but it happened anyway!
Checking if the banana bread had finished cooking through a 'telescope' :-) (finished a roll of baking paper so she was playing with that ... had to take it off her though when she put it up to Samuel's face and said "BOO" really loudly down it!! Little monkey.).
After the baking was all finished we went to the playground for an hour. I have no idea what she was doing here - but she'd been riding her bike around then walked around with her arms crossed and this ferocious look on her face for about five minutes! LOL
But her happy face came back :-)
She did a bit of tree climbing (well attempted too!).

Told you it was different!

Here's the finished piece! Took these pics this morning so the lava icing had slumped a bit overnight.

Question for you ... why does "red" food colouring only go pink, not red??? Very frustrating.

Here's the back of it. Aaron told me it needed dinosaurs, so I had a rummage in the toy box and washed up these 3 I found :-)

Such excitement heheee ... boy are these kids going to be on a sugar rush today or WHAT! They had all sorts of sweet treats and sugary drinks for their party! The cake would have been the overdose part I think! hehehehee

Here's the cover of the little mini album I made for Aaron's teacher. (Used my Tim Holtz alterations :-) They are awesome.) Kept it very simple because of lack of time and when I asked her what she wanted on the cover as a title she said "my album"! hehehee So that's what she got :-)
Right off to spend some time with Samuel ... he's doing lots of grins and cooing at me. I like that a lot :-)

Don't Bother ...

making plans to be creative when you have kids!! I was planning to do some scrapbooking or card making this afternoon ... what a joke that turned out to be!

.

This morning when I took the kids to school Aaron's teacher told me that Aaron had said yesterday that "Mummy is making a volcano cake for the birthday party and I'm going to bring it to school!" So when she questioned him a bit more he said it was for this Friday, the party they are having for their last day with their teacher (no birthday about it at all!). I just looked at the teacher and said "Oh really". She told me it sounded neat and asked what flavour it was going to be! HAHAHAHA How could I say "No I'm not making a cake" when my darling son had already told everyone I was and the teacher's asking me what flavour! ;-) So change of plans ... check recipes and head out to the supermarket to get the ingredients I needed and didn't have in the cupboard. Then huffed and puffed my way back home (with frosty lemon tea in hand hehee) to bake a basic chocolate cake.

I bought this cake book a month ago for RM5 ... sooooo cheap (that's like NZ$2.45!!!) and it's got some very neat cakes in it and the Volcano one just happened to be one of them that Mr "Mad about Birthdays" has his eye on!! (sorry Aaron's got his mouth full of chocolate muffin in this pic! just sampling you know!)

I will tell you now that mine is going to look a little different to that because I don't have a dolly varden cake tin (I sure would like one though!). So I've used my ring tin (you can see a pic of what the cake looks like on this old post - without the lopsided business!) and saved a bit of the mixture to make some muffins so I can put one down the hole so I won't loose all the red lava! Well that's the plan anyway. I'll post pics of the finished work of art (snigger snigger) tomorrow. Aaron was desperate to stay up tonight and help me ice it, (ahhh no thanks!) so I've compromised and told him he can poke the burnt trees in it (that's the choc covered pretzel sticks!) tomorrow morning when he gets up ;-)

On to other random stuff ... here's some pics of Samuel. He's 7 weeks old today. He spends a bit of time on the change table while I am rushing around in the morning getting the kids ready for school and he yabbers and dribbles and flaps his arms about waving to these other babies :-)

And Nana ... those little socks you sent over for him hehehee ... they look like little gumboots on him :-)

Aaron was singing a grace (Day by Day) and Maddison says "No 'Table Spread' Aaron" then she launches forth singing "This table spread, I love you, I love you" to the tune of the Barney song!! LOL :-)

.

I'll add that they have their favourite graces to sing and Aaron's is 'This Table Spread' and Maddison's is "These Tokens" and we try and take turns, but often we end up singing both because one will have a tantrum that their favourite wasn't sung! Oh well it's good to be thankful isn't it! :-)

.

I don't think I have recorded this one here yet, so will before I loose the bit of paper I've written it on!

The kids and I were having pizza for dinner one night when Mum was here - she was out shopping with Lyndon. So we are sitting eating and Aaron was telling me he's a good boy eating his pizza all up etc. etc. Then he stands up on his chair and lifts his shirt up to show his tummy and says "I eat it all up so my tummy grows big like Daddys!" heheheheee Love it - and so pleased he didn't say big like Mummy's! LOL

Right - off to deal with this volcano! :-)
