Amusement Park Fun

This afternoon we took the kids to the Amusement Park at Bejaya Times Square mall.  These holidays we had planned to take them to LegoLand, but after doing some research on-line and checking other's reviews of it, I decided to give it a miss for now.  Main reasons were ... distance to travel (need to allow an overnight stay), car sick child, not enough shade while waiting in queues for rides, and it's stinking hot and if it's not stinking hot then it's raining, but still hot!  And interestingly enough most people that did reviews on LegoLand commented on the smelly toilets!  The place only opened in September ... doesn't bode well for the future does it!

Anyway I decided I couldn't be bothered driving all that way to stand in queues being hot and sweaty and getting hotter and sweater dealing with hot and sweaty kids!  So we looked closer to home for a couple of things to do :-)

Yesterday we went to KLCC Aquaria which the kids loved.  Today we went to Times Square Theme Park.  The kids absolutely loved it, although Aaron was very disappointed he didn't get to go on the roller coaster that went all throughout the Park.  I for one was rather pleased actually!  The jolly thing seemed to go so fast and every time it went racing overhead my heart skipped a beat!  I don't think I would have coped knowing one of the kids was on it!  I looked at the reviews on-line for this too.  Was rather interesting.  Some left comments that it was a waste of time and very tame.  But for a theme park virgin, like myself, :-) I thought it was pretty cool actually.  Admittedly we didn't go into the area that was for teenagers and adults, but the little kids area was great.  It was tidy, the staff were pretty good with the kids and best of all there weren't any queues for us today :-)  (Oh and the toilets were clean!)

This was the view just before the ticketing counter.  You can see the orange roller coaster loops going all over the place!

Samuel went to sleep in the car on the way there, so we just transferred him to the pram and Aaron and Maddison did a couple of rides before he woke up to join in the fun :-)

Boat swing.

"Honey Bump Dodgem cars".  We wondered how the kids would get on with their lack of driving skills.  Maddison was on to it straight away and after Aaron got the hang of turning the wheel hard to the left or right to get out of a jam, he was away :-)  They both loved it.

Train ride through the kids part of the park.

Flying Bumble Bee.  The bees had a lever in them to push up to make the bee go high up in the air.  The first time Aaron got it sorted, but Maddison was so funny, she would jerk it up and down and it was like the bee had been drinking spirits rather than nectar!!  ;-)

Merry Go Round.  The first time I put Samuel on a stationary creature, but he didn't think that was very fair when he saw Aaron and Maddison going up and down!!
Crazy Bus ride which went around in circles up in the air.

Aaron really really wanted to win one of these soft toys ... huh ... I'd like to meet someone that has!  It was RM4 for each turn and one turn gave you 5 throws.  If you got all the items where they were supposed to land you got about 5 points I think.  But the large toys were like 70 points!  Would have been cheaper to just go and buy the toy from a toy shop!  ;-)
They had one turn each and neither of them got any hits!  Aaron chose the ball toss into the coloured pipes and Maddison the coin toss onto plates.

Back to the dodgem cars again :-)
This time with Samuel.  There was a bit of a power struggle for the wheel heheehee
Then they ran off some energy in the playground.

Samuel and I went on the jeep drive while the other two did something else.
He thought he was the king pin up the front of the jeep and in control of the steering wheel!!  (Oh and don't forget tooting the horn)  :-)
Samuel and Maddison holding hands on the swing :-)
About 4.30pm we headed back into the mall to look for some food.  We decided on a BBQ restaurant.  The kids had Angry Birds fish cakes :-)
 The BBQ chef :-)

And waffles for dessert :-)

Then we headed back into the theme park for another half an hour before heading home.

Love the glee on Samuel's face here :-)

Getting the kids to leave was bad enough, but things got worse when we got on the road for home! The traffic was a nightmare!  What would normally be a half hour trip took us well over an hour!  Insane!
The last stretch of motorway heading into our suburb!  5 minutes became about 35!

So that was our day :-)  The kids had fun and I'd definitely take them back.  I liked how you could go in and out of the park on the same day without having to repay.

Thanks for visiting.

3 January 2013

This morning was spent doing this ...

Maddison was busy creating in the Lego Room :-)

Aaron was busy creating a marble run from an empty fan box (and a variety of other bits and pieces he's been collecting over the last few months!!  Looks like he'd been to the dump hehee).
It required some assistance from Daddy (love this photo not just because of Aaron and Lyndon, but also Samuel in the background getting his hair blown about by the fan). :-)
Brothers testing it out :-)
While everyone else was busy creating something out of a mess ... I seemed to be creating and leaving a mess!!
I spent most of the morning in the kitchen making bacon and egg pie and quiches to take to a friend.

After lunch we headed into KLCC Aquaria.   We were there last when Samuel was just over 5 weeks old, 2 and a half years ago (you can see that post here), so it was fun to go back especially to see Aaron and Maddison's reactions.  Much longer concentration span this time!  :-)
We got there just before the shark feeding which was fantastic.  We hadn't seen any feeding last time we visited.  This big shark just lazed about on the ground right in front of us.  I didn't realise they have such tiny tiny eyes!  Wonder why they even have them actually they are so small.
Diver with a bucket of fish.
Swarmed by fish!
Mantra Ray surfing in front of the window.
Shark having some dinner!
Maddison liked watching this lazy shark!
It even got fed by hand!!
Big turtle we saw when we were on the moving walkway.

Aaron and Maddison at the Shark mouth!  :-)
After we'd done the moving walkway a few times Aaron, Maddison and I went back to the start and had another look at things we'd missed on the way in.  We spent AGES at the 3 interactive touch tanks just at the entry.  Maddison especially has no fear when it comes to creatures of any sort, shape or size!

This was a little shark ... a Bamboo Shark I think.
One tank had 2 Horseshoe Crabs.  They were fascinating.  Maddison loved picking them up and holding them.

But ... she spent the most time playing with the Sea Cucumbers! (the long black things in this tank)  She even asked me and the staff if she could take two of them home!!!  They were very soft to touch.

I enjoyed it all, but I did like the Otters :-) They were pretty cool.  Hard to take pics of through the glass, but so neat to watch.
We waited for nearly an hour (the kids played in the touch tanks and climbed about the rocks outside the Otter tank) to see them being feed.  It was worth the wait though :-)

A great day :-)

Thanks for visiting.

1 January 2013!

New Years Day ... still can hardly believe we have started 2013 already.  2012 seems to have gone so fast.  Lyndon and I saw the New Year in by standing on the balcony with his parents watching the firework display at the shopping complex near to us.  Much better than I remember from last year :-)

These ones caused lots of smoke though and there wasn't much wind to blow it away so some of the fireworks following got a bit lost in the smoke!

Today we were up early (before 5am!).  Lyndon took his parents to the airport and then we scampered about getting ready to go to a funeral at 10am.  We had to leave at 9 as Lyndon was setting up the speakers.  Kids were pretty good considering the heat ... although I didn't hear much that was said with Samuel jiggling about on my knee!  Was nice to be with friends though.  After the service at the house, we all went in a couple of buses out to the cemetery which was about 45 minutes drive and then we waited for about half an hour as there were two other burials in progress and we were asked to wait till one of them finished.  Was rather hot standing around.  It was overcast, but phew it was hot.  I actually got quite sun burnt.  We headed back home after the service at the grave and had lunch, the kids played about while Lyndon had a snooze on the couch then we went for a swim.

After dinner there was bit of You-Tube watching!

I tried to capture the clouds at sunset.

Then when Samuel was in bed we had a game of UNO Stacko with the kids.  They got given this game for Christmas - so was very exciting :-)
Got down to Lyndon and Aaron playing.  Aaron pulled a yellow double, which meant Lyndon had to pull two yellow tiles!
Aaron was nearly beside himself with excitement hehee
VERY carefully ... Maddison is watching very closely to make sure Daddy is being careful!
Whoops!  Aaron jumped in the air with excitement that he'd won!  (He does like winning!  haha)

Thought I would share this cheeky photo of Maddison wearing Lyndon's glasses tonight!

So that was our first day of 2013.

I have a list of things in my head I want to get done this week ... we'll see what happens :-)

One of them MUST happen though and that is Project Life!  I haven't done anything with it yet or even set up my album.  I have to clear a space in my craft area (which is looking like a bomb site) so it's going to be easy to print a photo and pop in, if not every day then every second day.  Wish me luck with that one!

Thanks for visiting - hope your 1st day of 2013 was a good one.
