Peek-a-boo!

Samuel has discovered a hiding place in their bedroom. You can't see him when you walk into the room, but I know he's in there because I can hear him chatting away to himself. :-) He thinks he's the bee's knees when I pretend I can't find him hehee

He also has a dangerous love of climbing!
We went to the indoor playground this afternoon while I was photographing some LO's and I spied him coming down the slide ever so slowly so he could watch himself in the mirror hehee

Must get a picture of him climbing the grill door in the foyer! He climbs up higher than my head!!

Oh and his latest saying is "STOP" ... Yes he says it in capitals and generally when I am trying to stop him from doing something! Little monkey.

Had to laugh the other day at something Maddison said to me ...

I was washing some dishes and she was helping dry them and she said "Mummy when I grow up I'm going to do wiping and do washing and do cooking like you!"

YIPPEE! Can't wait for that day hehee

And another week gone!

This post is going to be full of random things! The days seem to be a bit of a blur at the moment and I am having a little trouble keeping up!

A couple of weeks ago we started some extra tuition for Aaron to help him with his spelling. He's a great reader and his reading comprehension is above average for his age, but he has trouble writing and has very good avoidance tactics when it comes to that! After looking into things we found he didn't like writing because he had trouble spelling. So we are really hoping that this tuition will help him overcome his avoidance of writing :-) He has an hour in the evenings 4 nights a week. Two of those my helper comes and looks after Maddison and Samuel for me, but the other two nights I have to take all the kids. His lesson is from 6-7pm, and because of the timing and traffic we need to leave at 5pm. I have to be super organised ... been a learning curve for me hehee

.

So the kids have their showers around 4pm and Samuel gets into his pj's. At 5pm we jump into the car and I give the kids their dinner in little take away containers. (When it's the 3 of them it's something that's easy for Samuel to eat like sausages and chippies, or pizza cut into squares, but when it's just Aaron and me I can do rice/veges and meat as he doesn't make such a mess!) ;-) Samuel will eat and then fall asleep!

The parking at the tuition place is hideous! That's why we leave so early!! I double park (along with at least 1,000 others) and as soon as someone leaves, I dive into that vacated park as fast as I can! This street below is one we go along near the place and it's usually 3 cars deep on the left and cars are parked up the centre line. Sometimes people even stop in the middle while they wait for someone to get in, or load something in their car! It's rather frustrating to say the least!

Every Friday Aaron has a spelling test at school and on Friday he bought home his spelling journal - can I just say that I was SO excited to see his progress! :-) He got 8 correct but the thing that most impressed me and made me super proud was that he even tried the ones he didn't know!

Sorry this is sideways - but this is what his spelling test results usually were - he would only write the first letter (if he even bothered to do the test!).

So happy that the extra tuition is giving him confidence to try :-)

On Saturday Maddison went to a school friends birthday party. They had face painting and a clown! (I won't dwell on the fact that she decided to go swimming fully clothed and as a result had to go home with a eco bag wrapped around her as a skirt! Or the fact that I put the wet clothes on the roof of the car (why on earth did I do that?) and forgot them and now they have disappeared! I even retraced where we went but no luck. So cross with myself. The most annoying thing was, I actually thought at the time that I shouldn't put them on the roof because I would forget them! Duh!)


Samuel was a good boy and stayed in the pram for quite a long time and then played on the scooter.
Samuel has a new hiding place! In the cupboard under the sink! I can hear him chatting away and find him like this.

Anyone else out there chat to potatoes? hehee

Coming back one night from spelling Maddison exclaimed "Mummy ... look there's Paris!"

Me - Where's Paris?

Maddison - Over there ... see ... way up high - it's Paris.

Me - Oh I see, you mean that crane looks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris?

Maddison - Yes ... see Aaron, it's Paris!

Me to Aaron & Maddison - What are you two playing?

Maddison - We are playing smurfs. Aaron is hiding and I am finding him in the "billage"

Me - Village, vaa vaa village

Maddison - Yes billage, Aaron is hiding from Gargamel and I have to find him

Me - Okay that's fun, but you say village with a V not a B. Vaa vaa village

Maddison - vaa vaa billage!

hehehee after a couple of times correcting her I just left her to her billages! :-) She can say it correctly now though :-)

Samuel is saying new things every day. I have to start writing them down and do a separate post I think before I forget!

My most favourite though is his word for shower ... it's "wha wha" :-) heheee He stands at the bathroom door lifting up his tee shirt saying "wha wha, wha wha". Makes me laugh :-)

Chef Samuel

Samuel loves getting into the pot cupboard and crashing pot lids together or carting the pots around. Tonight while I was doing the dishes he discovered the wok.

Have to get right in there to mix it up you know!

Wooden spoon wasn't doing the job properly so back to the drawer to find something else!

Ahhh these salad servers will do the trick! (Obviously they make more noise!) :-)

He went away for a bit then came back with his dummy and decided his "cooking" needed to be vacuumed up!

Funny little fella.

His latest words are "cookie" and "dirty", although not said at the same time! He now prefers home made cookies to bought ones and several times during the day he'll come and say to me "cookie peeese" with a screwed up little face on the "peeese". How could I say no to that? :-)

Langkawi Part 1

Monday morning we were up bright and early and a taxi took us to catch the ferry to Langkawi at 8.15am.

I will tell you right now and if you have the chance to go to Langkawi and you or your travelling companions suffer from travel sickness then FLY! Don't even think about taking the ferry! It wasn't a very pleasant trip ... the ferry was packed with people & luggage, it wasn't what you'd call first class (especially after we have been on board!). Unfortunately we were on the lower seating deck and the windows were fogged up, scratched perspex which was impossible to see through. We weren't long into the journey (which takes around 3 hours) when Maddison turned to face the back of her seat and did a major throw up. I had 1 packet of wipes and nothing to catch it in. So you can imagine the state of the seat and her skirt! There was a very nice lady sitting across the isle that got us some plastic bags, so we managed to catch the next lot in that and I used half a packet of wipes to clean up the seat! It didn't help that both Lyndon and I were feeling very queasy as well! I had no sooner cleaned up Maddison's mess then Aaron did a cough and threw up all over himself and the iPad!! Nice one mate! His shorts were so bad I ended up taking them off and he went the rest of the trip in just his undies & tee-shirt! (goodness knows what people thought, but by that stage I was past caring and trying so hard not to throw up myself. I do confess to do some major dry reaching through!) Then Samuel filled his pants and it wasn't easy to find a space to change him with the ferry being so crowded!! (and no I couldn't take him to the toilets, that was a whole different issue which doesn't need to be mentioned on here! uggggh!) Lyndon took Samuel for a walk and found where to go to the top open air deck, so we all ended up there for a while.

When we arrived at Langkawi the kids had a ride on the Porters luggage trolley.

The hotel had arranged a pick up for us and it was about a 45 minute trip to the hotel which is just lovely :-) The first thing Samuel did when we got to our room was pick up the phone and say "hi-eeeee"!
We had lunch at the restaurant overlooking the pool area.
Samuel tried out my peanut satay sauce and found it quite to his liking!
After lunch Samuel had a sleep while Lyndon took the other two down to play on the beach which is a 2 minute walk from our door! Our room is the one with the washing hanging on the balcony.

And breakfast this morning! Our helper told me a couple of weeks ago that "Baby Samuel is a photocopy of 'Sir' Lyndon"!!! I didn't realise just how right she was heheheehe Look at the pair of them sharing that bowl of donuts!!! Samuel loves giving a big fake cheesy grin when the camera is pointed in his direction!
So right now Aaron is playing on the iPad, Samuel is sleeping, Lyndon has taken Maddison to the Medical Office to get her head checked and see if she can go swimming and I am blogging! :-)

Logging off now though. Want to find some activities we can do over the next couple of days.
