Butterfly Park

Today Mum, Aunty Ruth, Maddison and I went to the Butterfly Park. I didn't realise that Mum hadn't been there before! Shocking! ;-)
.
Aaron was at school and Samuel stayed back with my helper because there's a HEAP of stairs so having a pram is useless and it's VERY hot, so having Samuel in a front pack would have been uncomfortable for him and me!
.
So it was a nice time out for the "ladies" :-)
.
Maddison hopped and skipped from one butterfly to the next!

I've been several times to the Butterfly Park and this was the first time I have ever seen caterpillars there - lots of them actually and some of the plants the leaves were striped from them. Not sure if you can tell in this pic, but this caterpillar had brilliant blue bits on him.
Lush greenery.

Sometimes I even caught a glimpse of a little "princess" waving at Mummy! :-)
Checking out the turtles. It was nice to see they weren't as crowded this time.
There were heaps of butterflies drinking water from the wet concrete - of course I took several photos!!

And apparently not only butterflies need cooling off ... I caught this Princess dipping her hand into this pond/fountain (gross) and licking her fingers (even grosser!). DISGUSTING!

Thanks for visiting.

What we got up to today

We had a busy but fun morning today :-) Aunty Irene came and once we were organised we headed to a park to feed the turtles.
But the catfish (which were enormous) didn't give the turtles a chance! No wonder they were so big - their hoover-like mouths just scooped up the bread like you wouldn't believe! Boys are they such ugly fish!
.
Look at them just pushing the turtles out of the way!

We saw lots of young monkeys playing about in the trees :-) I had to tell Aunty Ruth NOT to get too close!! I didn't really want to rush off to hospital with her and get her rabies vaccination done!

Aaron & Maddison spent a short while in the playground ...
Love this pic ... cheeky wee thing!
and when they were very red in the face, we went and sat by the creek and watched them cool off in there :-)
The water is sort of clean ... it just looks filthy because of the colour of the sand/gravel.
Samuel enjoyed watching from my knee

The boats were great fun too :-)

Samuel loved jumping up and down in the water ... he didn't really have a sleep there, so was a bit restless! Splashing in the water helped get the fidgets out hehehe

We came home for lunch and TRIED to get the kids to have a sleep, but that was a bit of a wasted effort! Anyway some of us had a nap hehee :-)
.
After dinner and kids had their showers they opened Christmas presents from Aunty Irene ...
SO exciting! :-)

Then Aunty Irene took Mum and Aunty Ruth for a bit of a tour of the city to see the lights and other sights! :-)
Kids were in bed and asleep by 7.20pm hehee :-)
.
Thanks for visiting.

Sweating it out at the Park!

Yesterday we went to the park to feed the turtles. Grandma hadn't been with us to this park before and it was a good excuse for the kids to ride their bikes :-)

Someone has "named" this turtle!
Coasting down the hill!
Aaron had the playground in view so he was off!
Maddison decided to abandon her bike and run instead! (I think I would have biked ... would have required less sweat! hehee)
This dragonfly had transparent tips on his wings.
Maddison told me when we were back at the car that they had done lots of exercise today hehee ... they sure did! Where they get their energy from in the heat is beyond me. It was just sooooo hot the "glow" was trickling down my back while sitting in the shade watching the kids!
.
Aaron just wasn't too sure about these rings - he would swing out then put his feet back! hehee
He must have climbed the top of the tunnels about 4 or 5 times!
Maddison tried ... but couldn't get up (thankfully!).
So she played peek-a-boo instead.
Samuel slept, sweated and feed! ;-)
In the afternoon we all had a sleep (except for Lyndon) ... very tiring just sitting in the heat you know! hehee

Game of Pool Anyone?

There's a pool table down near our playground and the kids love playing on it!! Now normally this isn't something I would have EVER let my kids do, but what do you do when it seems like every other little boy under 5 in the complex does this?? And worse, their parents lift my kids up to play on it too before I can say "ummm excuse me, but NO!". Sigh ... so now it's something they like to do once they have worn themselves out in the sun, they scamper back here where it's marginally cooler and play!

Discovered this morning there's 3 new turtles in the pond too - little ones! Not sure if the big turtle laid eggs and they hatched, or they got some more. The new ones are very shy though, they dive back under the water as soon as they catch a glimpse of movement. See how green the water is. Gross aye. On Friday last week they had emptied out the pond and had cleaned it and now look ... 4 days later it's full of turtle poop! ugggh

Here's my last sneaks of some cards I made for the April kit for Scrap-n-Crop. Full reveal tomorrow when the kit goes on sale. :-)

Here's a sneak too of something else I made and Val from SnC said I should put it up as I've used some papers very similar to what's in the kit. :-) Just finished it last night actually heheee

How we spent our morning ...

This morning (after I iced the remainder of the heart cookies) we went to the park ... it was pretty hot and sticky, but the kids enjoyed it. We forgot to take bread to feed the turtles, but some still came to the surface to check us out.

The waterfall has been "fixed" and was flowing again. Not sure what was wrong, but this is the first time we've seen it running.

I was playing with the mega zoom on my camera ... love the red contrast in those plants.
Lyndon took some pics of me and the kids! Huh ... most of them are a joke, but thought I'd share these 2 with you. 2 out of 3 looking at the camera is pretty good!
And notice the cheeky grin of Aaron's ... he's about to get up and run away (again!). Maddison was just busy enough staring at the water!
But later she did some running around :-) Love this photo Lyndon took of them running about like wild monkeys lol!! The glee on their faces was priceless ... pity I didn't have the squealing recorded for your enjoyment (snigger snigger!).

In the afternoon I went with Irene to her dressmaker ... getting a blouse made to match a skirt Mum made me while she was here. Lyndon looked after the kids :-) Irene came back to our place afterwards and we went out for tea. Came home and bathed the kids and put them STRAIGHT to bed!!
.
Hope you all had a lovely valentines day :-)
