3 LO's for Scrappin Studio

Hi again, back with my last three LO's using Scrappin Studio's April City of Lights and Montmarte kits with bits and pieces from the Versailles kit as well.

I only have scraps of paper left and a few embellishments left from the City of Lights and Montmarte kits, but most of the papers still from the Versailles kit.  I have done 9 LO's, 1 card, 1 mini album (10 pages) and an altered box all out of mainly the first two kits :-)  They go a long way don't they!!  :-)

New Baby Doll LO - I had a real hard time choosing which side of the patterned paper to use here as the other size was a lovely dark woodgrain!  But in the end I decided to scrap this 5x7 photo of Maddison that I already had printed.  The cardstock base and thickers are from my stash, and the brown glittered ribbon is from a previous Studio Calico kit - the colour was perfect :-)  I used the backing sheet that the chipboard buttons and banner embellishments were attached to, to mount behind the tag as the shaped edge matched in with the patterned paper shape. I inked the edges of all patterned papers, cardstock and tag with antique linen distress ink.  I also used the same ink on the white thickers to make them blend in a bit.

Daffodils LO - Here I just used scalloped circle punch on all the scrap pieces of papers I had left, inked the edges with worn lipstick distress ink and added butterfly stickers, brads, buttons and twine.  Everything on this LO is from the kits.

I have a small collection of tissue tape - and the kits I got for April had another three rolls in them!   So I decided I would use them to create my own patterned paper.  I did add in the orange tape which is from an Amy Tangerine set (available at Scrappin Studio).  I just used plain white cardstock from my stash and folded the edges of tape over the cardstock rather than trim it off.

Here's the LO I made.  The orange cardstock is from my stash, twine, thickers and brad from the kits.

That's it from me for the April kits :-)  Hope you have had fun with them too.

Thanks for visiting and happy scrapping.

Egg drops, tattoos & fevers

Last week Aaron had an egg drop experiment at school.  They had to design some sort of contraption to keep an egg from breaking when dropped from the 3rd floor of their school.

Here's what Aaron came up with (with Daddy's help of course!)  ;-)

And he was thrilled to see that it survived.  Just over half the class had a successful drop, the other half were very messy indeed hehee

On Saturday Aaron went to a friends birthday party and amongst the goodie bags were some tattoos!  He desperately wanted one on Saturday night, so I said he could as long as it wasn't able to be seen with his Sunday clothes on!  :-)  So he chose to have it on his chest like Popeye hahaa  You can't see it very well, but it's a huge big scorpion.
.
After he had it on he came dancing out to show me and when I said I would take a photo he struck this pose!  :-)  Classic.  Skinny wee thing he is!   (He doesn't have muscles like Popeye yet that's for sure hehehe)

Other news ... Friday Maddison came home from school feeling very sleepy and took herself off to bed.  Slept for a couple of hours then started vomiting!  So that night I took her and Samuel to the Dr's.  I knew the Dr that was on duty was a good one, so I wanted to get Samuel checked again as I was having suspicions that the diagnosis of measles was incorrect!  (3 days before I was told it was measles another Dr had said it was hand, foot and mouth!)

So Maddison had a virus, or possible food poisoning (which I think I can rule that out now as Samuel is back in bed asleep already this morning and has a fever ... so I am expecting a fun day ahead!!  not!).  Samuel's rash was apparently a bacterial skin infection and the Dr gave me some cream and within 24 hours it had cleared up!  So glad that's done and dusted with ... now to hope he doesn't get too sick with this vomiting bug :-(

Maddison slept a lot on Saturday and Sunday we just took it easy, and by the afternoon she was back eating her usual amounts of food and today really wanted to go back to school.  So that's where she is now and so happy to be back!  Yay for that.  :-)

So that's what's happening around here.  Lyndon is off to Sweden this week - don't think he's been there before, and the temperature sure isn't like here, so he's packed with his winter gear!  :-)

Thanks for visiting.

Birds, Peas, Magic Wands ...

Tuesday was a public holiday here so Lyndon took Aaron & Maddison along with a friend from Germany to the Bird Park.  (Samuel has measles so we had to stay home.) :-(

Here's a few pics he took.

Samuel is very cheeky at the moment.  He's also taken a liking to wearing the inside piece of their Bob the Builders hat :-)  Makes me laugh because it looks like he has a head brace on with screws into his head!  lol

I have discovered he doesn't like peas!  He throws them one by one onto the floor!!!

On the way home from school yesterday Maddison found a broken tree branch and bought it home because it was her "magic wand"!  :-)  So we cut off all the extra bits and she told me exactly how long to cut it then we decorated it.  First of all I covered it with washi tapes.  Maddison went through my collection and picked out the ones she wanted.  I was very surprised as she didn't go for pink - she chose all my Tim Holtz ones instead! heheee
Then we tied ribbons onto the end of it.
But according to her it still wasn't finished and she wanted glitter stickers on it.  Luckily Aunty Irene had given me some beautiful glittered ribbon stickers for my birthday last year and they were perfect to wrap around the wand.

She's gone off to school today with it, waving it about saying "abracadabra"! :-)

Altered Box & Mini Album for Scrappin Studio

Hi there - I'm back again with a couple of things to share using Scrappin Studio's April City of Lights and Montmarte kits. I used alphas from the Versailles kit as well.

First up I altered a cigar box for Maddison's hair clips.  I did one of these for her back in 2009 for all her hair accessories and it's overflowing now and so hard to find her clips in amongst her hairbands, so I decided to do another one so we can separate the clips.  (I am going to give this to her for her birthday in July :-)  Shhhh don't tell her!)

Here's the previous one I made.

It was super simple to make - measure the sides and cut the patterned paper to suit and glue it on (I used mod podge).  I used Tim Holtz Sizzix dies - tattered floral and mini butterfly's. I cut out several sizes of the flowers and after inking the edges with worn lipstick distress ink layered them together and used the pink brads from the kits to keep them together.  Like I said - really simple! :-)

This is the front of the box.

Back
Right side
Top.  The top is also going to have a 7 Gypsies door knob on it for a handle, but I need my hubby to do that for me as it needs to be drilled and then recessed so the lid can still slide.
Close up of the flower on the front.

Secondly, I made another mini album about our home here in KL.  We are heading back to NZ for a holiday during the summer break and I needed an updated album to show friends and family of our new place.  I used my Zutter to bind it together.

I'll let the pictures tell the story :-)  (I do like those wooden frames in the kit - they stand out slightly higher than the thickers which is awesome as I think it will protect the thickers from coming off when it's being handled a lot.)

Had to use the bike stamps on the playground page :-)

And don't forget Tom Turtle on the back page!

I still have 3-4 pages spare in the album actually, but I will fill them with photos of our friends here and pictures of Aaron & Maddison at school.

Thanks for visiting.

Mini Album Class at Scrap-n-Crop

Yesterday afternoon I taught a mini album class to some lovely ladies at Scrap-n-Crop.  I apologise in advance for a very photo heavy post, but I promised I would post pictures of my albums for them!  I quickly finished off Samuel's album this afternoon so I could do all the pics at once.

I had enough patterned paper and embellishments in the kit to make 3 albums, for Aaron & Samuel's albums I used chipboard from my stash and Tim Holtz Baroque die.

 Album 1 - Maddison's Album

This page shows the plastic page with the rub-ons

 Album 2 - Aaron's Album
Front & Back pages

This shows the plastic page on the right
 and then on the left.

Album 3 - Samuel's Album (and yes those rub-ons on the back page are on crooked!   Whoops)  ;-)

The stamp on the orange page stamped perfectly on scrap paper, but not on my album page - I think because there was photos on the other side so it wasn't a perfectly flat surface!  (Lesson learnt).

Thanks again ladies for joining me at SnC.  Hope you all enjoyed making your album and you finish them!  :-)
