See you when we get back Raccoons!

This morning we took the "raccoons" down to the teacher (Ms K) to look after for us while we are away.

.

When I was cleaning the containers getting them ready I was thinking that this one was dead and I wouldn't bother taking it ... but then it wiggled! A very big wiggle! I got such a fright ... I may have even let out a little squeal heheee

.

So much to the delight (not) of Ms K she has the wiggler to mind as well. heheheee You can see it's skin that it shed in the photo too.

The monster caterpillar is safely tucked up in his new cocoon.
And here they are at the school waiting till home time :-)

Well what do you know ...

Because Lyndon collected a big pile of fresh leaves for me last night the caterpillar decided to start spinning it's cocoon! (Typical isn't it!)

.

So he's got himself positioned nicely upside down and he's busy spinning away. :-) Hopefully I will see it nearly finished before I pass them all over to their baby sitter this afternoon!

Hummm ... lots of pooping went on in the night as well! But I don't want to clean out the container in case I disturb him.

Caterpillars ...

Thank you all for your concern about my obsession with caterpillars and asking whether I was taking them on holiday heheee :-) (Just imagine NZ customs!)

No they are not coming on holiday with us!! One of the teachers at Maddison's school is going to caterpillar & "raccoon" sit for me.

.

Lyndon went out tonight and got a HUGE bunch of leaves so hopefully she won't run out before the greedy caterpillar spins his cocoon.

He's still munching away merrily!
There were 3 more cocoons in the branches Lyndon bought back tonight. So that's a total of five cocoons in this vase, one in the container and one doing it's own thing with no cocoon at the bottom on the container!
Hopefully at least ONE of them will emerge when my caterpillar sitter is around so she can take loads of photos for me heheee :-)

And if I am lucky maybe there will be still one to "hatch" when we get back! :-)

Scrappin Studio Sunday Sketch

I couldn't resist using some of my papers from Studio Calico and having a go at Scrappin Studio's Sunday Sketch.

.

Everything I have used on this LO (except for the Stickles & thread) is from the Wildflower kit.

I cut out the wings of this butterfly and put foam tape underneath to lift it up and used 3 different colours of stickles that matched the paper to add a bit of bling.
Added some thread and stickles to the buttons.
Cool tulle flower.
Cut out a ladybug and added some glitter too.
I really like these alphas that are in this kit and the fact they are so flat, but man they are hard to remove from the backing sheet! AND once they are stuck on the paper they are hard to remove (speaking from experience, as I got down to the 'n' in candles and realised I wasn't got to fit the title, so had to go back and lift them all off and start again!) I did damage the paper a little bit, but it's not too obvious thankfully. The worst bit I managed to cover up with another letter.

.

So that's all the scrapping I am going to get done before we leave on holiday I think! I really should concentrate on packing bags now I suppose hehee ;-)

Scrap-it-Lah March Challenge

Scrap-it-Lah's challenge this month is all about mood boards. I decided to do a LO that included some of my favourite things and things that make me smile. :-)

.

I am still having trouble with my printer so the photo I printed of Lyndon has stripes through it unfortunately. I will replace it when I get the printer working properly again.

.

The pictures of the poppies are from a bag of very special treasures I was given from Aunty June things when she passed away. So am thrilled to be able to use them on a LO :-) (Poppies were her favourite flower too.)

.

Did you spy a couple of new stamps in this LO? :-) :-) Lyndon bought me the big Jenny Bowlin Butterfly stamp when he was in Singapore, and the little row of butterflies at the bottom are one of Tim Holtz's new stamps (those stamps are for a friend but she said I could use them, so I have very carefully heheee) :-) The doilies are from Prima packaging.
